Karaoke hostess enlarged on bail

The Karaoke hostess taken into custody in an agitated state holding the head of a live snake and with a bleeding wound in her forearm attributed to a snake bite was yesterday produced before Fort magisistrate Kanishka Wijeratne who enlarged her on a surety bail of Rs 50,000.

Kollupitiya Police found the suspect, an employee of a Karaoke bar, holding the reptile and a basket used by gypsies to keep snakes.

Another bag containing clothes was also taken into custody. The suspect was later treated for her wound. Police had to coax the woman to get into the vehicle.

Investigations are continuing.
