China grants 10 m yuan to Lanka

Cabinet approval was granted for an agreement on economic and technical co-operation between Sri Lanka and the People's Republic of China, Cabinet Spokesman and Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing at the Media Ministry yesterday, Minister Rambukwella said the proposal to enter into the agreement. was made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Finance and Planning Minister.

The Chinese government agreed to provide yuan 100 million to Sri Lanka to further enhance friendly relations and bilateral economic and technical co-operation between the two countries, he said.
