Chinese grant of $ 30 m to Defence Service College

National Defence Minister of China Liang Guanglie granted a donation
of $ 30m to the Defense Service College yesterday, the highest donation
made by China to an academic institution.
The donation included funds and materials for a fully fledged
laboratary, furniture to the school, fridges, micro wave ovens etc.
The State Councilor and National Defence Minister of China Liang
Guanglie and the delegation were welcomed by a student of the College by
garlanding them.
Students of the college, Devmi Wasana and Lakindu Chathuka Perera
delivered the welcome speech in Chinese, which was followed by a folk
dance by the students.
After the exchange of souvenirs, the vote of thanks was delivered in
Chinese by student Hasara Devmini Weerasuriya. Chinese ambassador to Sri
Lanka W V Jianghao, Chief of Defense Staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan
Gunathilake, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya, Air Force
Commander Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, Navy Commander Vice Admiral
Somathilake Dissanayake also participated in the event. |
