The Kingston College international (Mutwal Branch) held an
educational exhibition and fiesta, (Kingston Edutainment 2012) recently
under the able guidance and direction of principal E N Soundaram.
School Development Manager, Sri Lanka, (University of Cambridge
International Examinations) Panchalika Kulatunga was the chief guest.
The Kingston College International which was founded by Dr T
Kumaraverl was at one time an assistant lecturer and then visiting
lecturer at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Colombo, then
(Ceylon). He is a B.Sc engineering graduate and a chartered engineer. He
also has a Master's Degree in Business Management. In addition he has a
Law Degree (LL.B) from the University of Colombo, then (Ceylon). He sat
for the Law College Examination to be an advocate and with the changing
over the system to Attorney-at-Law, since he was placed first in the
Island that year. He was privileged to be the holder of the number one
certificate of Attorney-at-Law. Besides, he holds an honourary
doctorate, Melvin Jones Fellow, past lions Deputy District Governor and
past lions cabinet treasurer.
Dr Kumaraverl had his primary and secondary education at S Thomas
College Mt. Lavinia. He passed the Senior School Certificate (SSC) in
the first division winning the most coveted Miller Mathematical Memorial
prize in the Advanced Level.
Dr Kumaraverl with a fine academic background and is professional
experience in Legal, Engineering, Educational and Business Management
fields is therefore the most qualified and experienced personality to
head this prestigious institution.
Further, Kingston College, International has four branches. They are
Mutwal, Wellawatte, Mount Lavinia and Matale Branches. The medium of
instruction is English. French is the second language and the third and
fourth languages are Sinhala and Tamil. In fact, the admission to this
college is competitive and a first come first served basis depending
vacancies. The number of students per class will be limited to 20, going
upto a very maximum of 25.
In this college, parents are expected to ensure that their children
attend college regularly and also arrive punctually at the college. In
fact, the college maintains a high degree of discipline. Further, the
physical training of the students is given equal importance. Elocution
and dancing are included in the primary students' time table. Students'
activities in the field of science are promoted by the science clubs.
The aesthetic values of the students are fostered through drama and
debating clubs, in addition to all these computer classes are conducted
by qualified teachers.
Indeed, this exhibition was of high standards which drew several
parents, and well-wishers. |
