Two more boatloads of illegal migrants arrested

The Navy arrested 98 persons bound for Australia illegally in two multi - day trawlers on Saturday. A trawler named Ann Mishal with 77 persons including 53 Tamils (52 men and one woman) and 24 Sinhalese on board and the other multi - day trawler with 21 persons including 19 Tamils and two Muslims on board were intercepted West of Chilaw and East of Batticaloa. The arrested are residents of Jaffna, Mullaithivu, Colombo, Negombo, Chilaw, Vavuniya, Puttalam, Galgamuwa, Trincomalee, Muttur, Ampara, Batticaloa and Kinniya. They were brought to the Modera Fisheries Harbour and Trincomalee Harbour to be handed over to the CID for further investigations.
