Explosives haul in North

The Navy recovered a haul of explosives in Karampan, Thirukethiswaram and Velani areas during a two day operation recently. Naval troops attached to SLNS Kanchedewa of the Northern Naval Command and SLNS Pussadewa of the North-central Naval Command recovered the explosives following a tip-off. Navy sources said they found 11 SFG 82 grenades, one K 400 grenade, three smoke grenades, two HE 36 grenades, one Agase grenade, two SFG 82JR grenades and 25 detonators in Karampan and 21 60mm mortar grenades, four chargers and 15 cartridges in Thirukethiswaram.

Naval troops attached to SLNS Kanchadewa of the Northern Naval Command also recovered 11 filled T56 magazines and 25 empty T56 magazines buried in Velani.
