Scholarships for homoeopathy students

Eight students who had been selected to further their studies in
homoeopathy this year were provided with air tickets to India, at a
ceremony held under the patronage of Indigenous Medicine Minister
Salinda Dissanayake at the ministry yesterday.
They were awarded scholarships to study the homoeopathic medical
system at the Homoeopathic National Institution in Calcutta.
Thirty nine Sri Lankan students are presently studying homoeopathy
through scholarships provided by the Indigenous Medicine Ministry.
The scholarship includes, medical course fees, residential facilities
and food. The Indian government spends around Rs 100,000 (Indian Rupees)
per student.
The course duration is five years. The value of a scholarship in Sri
Lankan rupees is Rs 1,500,000. Indigenous Deputy Minister Pandu
Bandaranayke, Ministry Secretary Lalith Kannangara, Additional Secretary
(Development) S A N Saranathissa, Additional Secretary (Administration)
Malkanthi Ekanayake, Senior Assistance Secretary A S Ilangamage also
participated in this event. |
