President visits Deegavapi Sacred Site
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday inspected the development work
at the Deegavapi Sacred Area.
The President visited the Deegavapi sacred site and met the
Viharadhipathi Ven. Thannapurawe Sri Buddharakkitha Thera and received
his blessings.
The President ordered his officials to sort out all disputes
pertaining to the Deegavapi Sacred Site upon a request by the Thera.
Thereafter, the President inspected the development work in progress in
the sacred area carried out by the Ports and Highways Ministry. The
President directed that the work be carried out in accordance with the
sacred area development plan.
He also instructed officials to take steps to construct meditation
booths for the benefit of pilgrims to the Deegavapi Sacred Site.
In addition, the President directed that a tree planting programme be
carried out in the area surrounding the sacred site pointing out the
suitability of growing fruits and indigenous plants. |
