Royal take under 14 all island rugby title

The Royal under 14 Rugby team is seen here after winning the Milo All Island trophy after beating Isipathana College 14 points to nil in the final at the Royal Sports Complex on 12th August. The Royal team comprised of Nikhil De Silva (Capt), Sasitha Siyath, Tbrahim Bari, Sabith Feroze, Mubeen Faleel, Thejan Wijesundara, Shevan Fernando Lahin Attygalle Ifam Fareed Deshan Perera, Nuwan Jayawardana, Maleesha Madumevan, Lennox Calyanaratne. Thulaib Hussian, Pavan Kavishka with officials Upul Silva (Coach), Chamara Dabare (Asst Coach) and Nabeel Faizer.

Royal College gave a dazzling display of rugby to clinch the All Island Milo Champions Cup in the Under 14 10-a-side Tournament by beating the formidable Isipatana College by 14 points (two goals) to nil at the Royal College Sports Complex on August 12. All Scoring by Royal was done before half time, but there were no scoring from either side after lemons, Thus Royal were worthy champions.

The try scorers for Royal were Shevan Fernando and Sabith Feroze who scored the tries in the first half. Last year Royal were runners up.

In the plate Final Kingswood College Kandy beat St. Peters College by 21 points to 7, the Bowl was won by St. Thomas Mt. Lavinia who beat D. S. Senanayaka 7 points to 5, while the Shield was won by Lumbini College who beat St Johns College Nugegoda 17 points to 12.

The Chief guest as Sajeewa Wickramasinghe Activations and Sponsorship Manager Nestle Lanka PLC). More than 450 participants from 30 leading schools all over the Island took Part in this two day tournament, which was sponsored by Nestle Lanka PLC and conduced by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA). The referee who handled this final was non other than the first Women's National Rugby Captain and the the first lady Referee in Sri Lanka Rukshani Ariyasena, who did a commendable job.
