Drugs smuggling: Lanka repatriates Pakistani prisoners
Twenty Pakistanis, found guilty of smuggling illegal drugs to Sri
Lanka and were serving their life terms in jails there, arrived in
Pakistan. These include two women. The prisoners will complete their
terms in different jails in Pakistan.
The convicts were shifted to Pakistan under an agreement of transfer
of prisoners between the two countries. The Pakistan High Commission in
Sri Lanka paid for their travelling expenses. Authorities handed over
two prisoners to the Karachi Central Jail.
Sources said the prisoners are from different areas of Pakistan
including Karachi, Khyber agency, Mardan, Gujranwal, Peshawar, Khairpur
Mirs and Lahore.
They said the families of these prisoners can apply to courts to
shift the prisoners to their respective cities otherwise they will
complete their terms in Karachi Central Jail.
