Economic Development minister Basil
Rajapaksa, the Chief Guest at the dedication ceremony of
houses, built by Habitat for Humanity, in Pathayamwatte,
Kimbulapitiya on Sunday is given a traditional Maori welcome
by a volunteer from New Zealand. Over 150 international and
50 local volunteers built 24 homes. Each home has a living
or bedroom area, kitchen, toilet, 20 foot tube well with
hand pump, 500-litre water tank and an area for a home
garden. A community center and a playground will also be
built in the village. Since 1996, Habitat for Humanity Sri

improving homes, and by providing training and access to
resources to help families improve their living conditions.
