‘IDB must reach out to industrialists in villages’
The Industrial Development Board (IDB) has a major role to play in
the uplift of small and medium scale industries in the country,

He was speaking while chairing a meeting of the Board of Directors of
the IDB at its head office in Moratuwa recently.
The minister also pointed out that the IDB should reach out to
industrialists in the villages and take appropriate steps to provide
them industrial training and intervene in the availing of credit
facilities from banks, especially through the new credit scheme in the
offing with the Regional Development Bank.
The minister requested officials to implement recommendations made by
the Committee appointed by him, to solve problems of industrialists
engaged in ventures housed in industrial estates belonging to the IDB.
Devananda also instructed officials to put into action arrangements to
streamline the administration and provision of adequate infrastructure
facilities to industrial estates and to pay attention to solve problems
of industrialists. |
