Athapattu Bandara
The Interim Report of the three member committee appointed by the
Secretary to the Ministry of Petroleum Industries to look into incident
of vehicle damage following the use of diesel, submitted its report to
Secretary R.H.S. Samarathunga yesterday.
It has been found that the vehicle damage was reported due to a
defect of the filters and laboratory tests have not identified the exact
reasons for this situation as per the standard specifications.
The interim report has suggested to appoint an expert committee to
explore the possibilities of carrying out special laboratory tests to
verify how the vehicles were damaged by using the removed filters and to
seek ways in which the laboratories and specifications could be
renovated.
It has also pointed out to maintain a proper stock regulation system
and adopt a reliable suppliers service till the laboratories are
updated.
The final report of the three member committee is to be presented to
the Ministry Secretary at the beginning of next week. The renovation
works of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will thus be rearranged
with the recommendations and suggestions of the final report. Meanwhile,
the marketing section of the CPC has instructed the CPC to submit a
report with complaints of the public to the Petroleum Inductries
Minister Susil Premajayanatha, Ministry Secretary R.H.S. Samarathunga.
The CPC has so far recorded 109 written complaints on vehicles and
equipment and 147 complaints in the complaints log book of the CPC. |
