WISNET Corporation, one of Japan's leading welfare and health service
institutions will establish 500 ayurveda centres in Japan with Sri
Lankan assistance, WISNET Corporation chairman Yukinori Takahashi said.
He said arrangements are in place to invest a large sum in Sri Lanka
for seaweed farming and to develop the ayurveda system.
"Japan is also ready to grant a large number of employment
opportunities to Sri Lankans related to the ayurveda sector," he said.
Takahashi revealed these facts at a discussion with Sri Lankan
authorities recently.
A team of delegates comprising 10 businessmen willing to invest in
Sri Lanka were here on an invitation extended by the Sri Lankan
Counsular General for Japan Sunil M Gamage. They held discussions with
Sri Lankan authorities including Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
Development Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne.
"We are happy about the peaceful environment in Sri Lanka. Any
investor can come to Sri Lanka and they can make profits. Sri Lanka is
heading towards development. We have informed about the peaceful
situation in Sri Lanka among other Japanese businessmen and hope to
bring more investors to Sri Lanka," former Japanese MP Kaneko Shenjiro
said.
