Infant buried in garden

Presuming that the one day old infant had died, the father and mother buried their infant in their garden.

The mother of the infant had later developed fever and bleeding and was admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

On inquiries, the mother told the doctors that she had buried the infant presuming it had died.

After being informed by the hospital authorities, Chunnakam Police went to her house at Thavady and unearthed the infant.

Police on the order of the Magistrate, took the infant's body to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for the postmortem examination.

Chunnakam Police are investigating.
