BoC joins hands with AASL

Bank of Ceylon will provide the financial support to Sri Lanka
Athletics for a period of five years. The sponsorship package will be Rs
115 million. The official signing of the sponsorship agreement took
place yesterday at Olympic House Auditorium between Sri Lanka Athletic
Association Secretary Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando and Bank of Ceylon
Commercial Acting General Manager T Muthugala.
The sponsorship was a result of the Sports Minister Mahindananda
Aluthgamage’s programme to tie hands with private and government
institutions to attract sponsorships to uplift country’s sports sector
as a whole.
The financial support will be utilized to bring the rural sportsmen
and women to national and international standards with scientific
training and foreign training as well as to develop both physical and
mental stability of the athletes. The long term plans and sponsorship
together will enable to win many medals at future events like SAG ,
Asian and Commonwealth Games, the sports ministry media sources
revealed.
Bank of Ceylon Chairman Gamini Wickramasinghe, AASL president Major
General Daya Ratnayake, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and
Sports Director General Ranjanee Jayakody were also present at the
occasion. |
