Devanada wants quick solution for Jaffna students’ woes

Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda instructed the authorities to look into the needs of Mavattapuram Veemankamam College, Jaffna and fulfil them without delay.

Minister Devananada

The minister gave this instruction after students told him there were several unresolved issues which needed to be looked into. Devananada who opened a music studio at the college last week, inquired from the students what their needs were.

The students requested the minister to implement a proper bus service and provide electricity and dry rations issued to the newly resettled.

The minister instructed the Divisional Secretary, Tellipallai, Sri Mohanan to look into the needs and instructed him to comply with the request.

Devanada also instructed SLCTB officials to commence a bus service and Ceylon Electricity Board officials to supply electricity to the area. The minister said it is the government’s aim to assist those who have resettled until they are ready to support themselves. Minister Devananda also participated in a religious ceremony at Mavattapuram Kovil.
