Monk arrested

A monk at the Sri Sambodhipurana Viharastana, Tanamalwila was arrested on Monday by Tangalle Police for alleged involvment in treasure hunting and possession of valuable antiques.

Police media sources said the Artefacts Protection Unit of the Tangalle Police arrested the monk and seized two brass caskets, a wooden casket, a brass painted casket from his possession.

The suspect was produced before the Tangalle Magistrate's Court yesterday. Tangalle Police are investigating.
