PS chairman arrested on assault charges

Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya Sabha chairman was arrested by Police for
allegedly assaulting a person with a bottle in Saliyawewa. The victim, M
C Thilakarante who is the manager of the same Pradeshiya Sabha has been
admitted to the Puttalam hospital.
Police Media Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said the victim had visited
the PS chairman as per the request of the chairman.
Further investigations revealed that an argument over employing a casual
worker atthe Pradeshiya Sabha to work at the chairman’s house was the
reason for the attack. The suspect was produced before the Puttalam
Magistrate’s Court yesterday. |
