Kiyomura Corporation to invest Rs.10,000 m here

Kiyomura Corporation, one of the largest business enterprises in
Japan, will invest Rs.10,000 million to develop Sri Lanka’s fisheries
industry, Kiyomura Corporation chairman also known as Tuna King, Kiyoshi

Kiyomura was addressing a press briefing in Colombo following an
inspection tour in the Southern and Wayamba provinces.
He inspected fisheries activities in the provinces.
Kiyomura also visited the Peliyagoda fish market complex, fisheries
harbours, boat yards and fish exporting centres.
He participated in an inspection tour in Sri Lankan waters. Japan has
a long time relationship with Sri Lanka and wished peace in the country.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has eradicated the war and there is more
space for both local and foreign investors to invest their money, he
said.
“I see the great potential of Sri Lanka’s fisheries industry. It can
bring more foreign exchange via exports. Modern technology is important
to the industry and I hope to introduce Sasimi technology and other
modern technological mechanisms to local fishermen to increase the
country’s fish harvest,” Kiyomura said. He said catching fish without
harming to the seas, protecting nutrients of fish, exporting quality
productions and manufacturing fishing vessels and equipment in the
country will help receive more income from the industry, he said. |
