‘Give pride of place for others’ welfare’

Any person achieving a high position in life will be useless unless
he or she seeks to cater to the welfare of others, said Defence and
Urban Development Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa when he addressed the
annual prize day meeting of Kandy Dharmaraja College held at the school
auditorium as the chief guest on Saturday.

The Defence Secretary said Dharmaraja College is a leading school
which had produced a cream of useful citizens to the country. The duty
of the government is to create an environment conducive for people to
display their talents. Such an environment had now dawned with the
eradication of terrorism and the restoration of peace.
“Students could achieve greatness and victories in life if they
pursued their education with self-confidence”.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said, however, education alone
would not help a person to lead a successful life. After completing
education and integrating with society one should learn to do the right
thing at the right time to achieve success in life.
Although all students could not gain entrance to universities there
are ample opportunities for those shut out of universities to hone their
skills and achieve success in life.
