Kandy CC reach quarter finals

Kandy Criket Club scored a good eight wicket win over Police Sports Club in their under 23 inter club cricket tournament match played at the Asgiriya stadium, Kandy.

The match winner for Kandy CC was former Trinity College right arm off spinner Kavinda Jayasuriya who took a match bag of 10 for 88.

Kandy CC were set a victory target of 118 in 34 overs and they won with nearly 11 overs to spare.

Bhagya Pallihawadena 66 not out (1 six, 10 fours) and Dinuk Wickremanayake 31 not out put on an unbroken stand of 78 for the third wicket to bring an early end to the match.

Kandy CC are now in the quarter finals of this tournament.

Police Sports Club: 142 (Dileepa Brakhmanage 26, Pradeep Nandana 26, Kavinda Jayasuriya 6 for 53, Sahan Pallihakkara 3 for 24) and 163 (P Chathuranga 47, Sujan Manjula 31, R Manohara 32, Kavinda Jayasuriya 4 for 35, Sahan Pallihakkara 2 for 21, Dinuk Wickremanayake 2 for 20).

Kandy CC: 188 for 9 decl (Alwin Fernando 33, Rajitha Jayatunga 30, Dinuk Wickremanayake 21, Lakshitha Dassanayake 20, Ron Chandragupta 20, Sujan Manjula 2 for 33, and 121 for 2 (Bhagya Pallihawadana 66 n.o., Dinuk Wickremanayake 31 n.o., H Nandana 2 for 30).
