Navy’s civilian employees awarded medals

Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake awarded the North-East Humanitarian Operation Medals to the Navy’s civilian employees at a ceremony held at SLNS Parakrama yesterday.

Senior naval officers attached to NHQ, Commanding Officer of SLNS Parakrama and officials of the Naval Civil Aviation were present at the occasion.

The ceremony commenced on a solemn note with a two-minute silence observed in honour of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland.

Addressing the august gathering, Navy Commander commended the service rendered by civilian employees having stood right behind the service personnel during a crucial juncture in the country’s history. He appreciated the assistance given by civilian employees for the smooth functioning of the Navy and the efficient execution of duties entrusted to them.

Two hundred civilian employees of the Navy received the North-East Humanitarian Operation Medal at the ceremony in appreciation of their services.
