Navy’s civilian employees awarded medals
Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake awarded
the North-East Humanitarian Operation Medals to the Navy’s civilian
employees at a ceremony held at SLNS Parakrama yesterday.
Senior naval officers attached to NHQ, Commanding Officer of SLNS
Parakrama and officials of the Naval Civil Aviation were present at the
occasion.
The ceremony commenced on a solemn note with a two-minute silence
observed in honour of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the
defence of the motherland.
Addressing the august gathering, Navy Commander commended the service
rendered by civilian employees having stood right behind the service
personnel during a crucial juncture in the country’s history. He
appreciated the assistance given by civilian employees for the smooth
functioning of the Navy and the efficient execution of duties entrusted
to them.
Two hundred civilian employees of the Navy received the North-East
Humanitarian Operation Medal at the ceremony in appreciation of their
