Earthslip warning

The National Buildings Research Organization (NBRO) issued an earthslip warning in relation to certain areas of Nuwara Eliya,

Kegalle and Kandy districts and people in these areas are advised to be vigilant during the next 24 hours period.

The high risk areas in the Kandy district include Yatinuwara, Udunuwara, Delthota, Udapalatha, Gangaihala Korale, Harispattuwa, and Kundasale while Yatiyanthota, Galigamuwa, Bulathkohupitiya, Deraniyagala, Ruwanwella, Arnayake and Mawanella in the Kegalle district were warned of possible earth slips within 24 hours if the continuous rainfall persists in the area. In the Nuwara Eliya district, Kothmale, Ambagamuwa korale, Hatton, Maskeliya, Horton, Norton Bridge have been warned of earth slips.

Meanwhile, the NRBO further said traveling in Hatton-Nuwara Eliya road will also be interrupted in the next 24 hours due to possible earth slips.
