Mobile phones, chargers found inside prison cell

Police Special Intelligence Unit officers seized 19 mobile phones and an equal number of phone chargers from the possession of inmates of Negombo Prison. Officers said the phones and charges were found during search operations inside the prison carried out on the orders of Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera on Sunday morning.

Officers also found 15 SIM cards, 30 grams of ganja and Rs 16,340 from the inmates’ possession. Forty inmates were arrested including a foreigner, prison officials said.
