Ukranian woman remanded

A Ukranian woman taken into custody for allegedly possessing two foreign passports was yesterday produced before Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis who remanded the suspect till July 28.

The magistrate ordered notice to be served on the director of the relevant section of the Department of Immigration and Emigration in charge of violations under the Immigration and Emigration Act.

Attorney at law Amila Palliyage appearing for the suspect submitted that the Immigration authorities of the country to which she surrendered her passport has re issued a new passport. Water marks of the two passports differed, he claimed.

The CID prosecuted.
