Six held over gilded Buddha statue theft

Six men who allegedly robbed a gilded Buddha statue were taken into custody by Police in Nochchiyagama on Wednesday.

The statue weighing 200 kgs, kept at the Eechchankulama Temple in Nochchiyagama, was stolen recently. Police arrested the suspects several days after the theft.

The suspects will be produced before court.
