Army deserter arrested with hand grenade, heroin

An army deserter was arrested with a foreign made hand grenade and 10 mgs of heroin at Sea Road, Galle on Wednesday by Galle Police. The suspect, a resident of Meda - Keembiya, Galle was to be produced before the Galle magistrate yesterday.


Brothel raided, five arrested

Four women and a man were arrested by Sapugaskanda Police following a raid on a brothel in Biyagama on Wednesday.

Investigations revealed the women, residents of Alawwa. Biyagama and Yahalathenna, are between 30 and 58 years. The suspects produced before the Mahara magistrate were remanded until June 22. Sapugaskanda Police are investigating.


Three nabbed with cannabis

Three persons were arrested with 49.625 kgs of cannabis in Rajanganaya and Kattankudi. Two suspects were arrested in Wilpattu Sanctuary on Tuesday by Rajanganaya Police.

The suspects produced before Thabuttegama court, were remanded until June 19.

The third suspect was arrested in Kattankudi on Wednesday.

He was to be produced before the Batticaloa magistrate court yesterday.


Woman finds grenades while sweeping

Three hand grenades were found by a woman while sweeping her compound in Nellur, Aiththamale on Wednesday.

Aiththamale Police are investigating.
