Attempted bank robbery:

Third suspect surrenders

The third and most wanted suspect in the foiled Battaramulla bank robbery case, surrendered to Thalangama Police through a lawyer yesterday.

The suspect, an Army deserter aged 23, was identified as a resident of Subuthipura, Battaramulla.

He had told Police he attempted to rob the bank to find money for gambling.

Of the three who attempted to rob the bank, one died following gun shot injuries after police retaliated when he attempted to hurl a hand bomb at them.

Another suspect is in police custody.

The men had come in a threewheeler to rob the bank. Investigations revealed the threewheeler owner is the dead man’s father. Thalangama Police are investigating.
