PC polls at right time - Keheliya

The government is discussing with Provincial Council Chief Ministers and authorities on holding elections of all Provincial Councils, Mass Media and Information Minister and Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said.

The minister said the dates for the elections will be decided according to the constitutional framework and law of the country.

He said the government hopes to hold the elections at the right time. The minister was responding to a question from a journalist at the weekly Cabinet press briefing at the ministry yesterday.

He said the election of the Northern Provincial Council will be held soon as preparations such as the compilation of registered voters’ lists, resettlement and demining process has been completed. DM
