Darsha, Susanthika still the best

Two legends on track, two of the greatest athletes Sri Lanka has ever produced, Olympic Silver Medalist Susanthika Jayasinghe and gold medalist at Asian Championships Damayanthi Darsha still hold the records for the womens 200m and 100m events of the Asian junior Athletic Championships.

Dharsha entered the record books when she smashed the record in the womens 100m in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1994, finishing the event in 11.42 seconds. Jayasinghe ran the womens 200 m in 23.16 seconds during the same event, two days after Darsha set the record.

Currently they are the only Sri Lankans to hold records at the mini version of the Asian Athletic Championships.
