Special Rupavahini programme on Gota’s War launch

Rupavahini will telecast an exclusive special programme on the launching of the book Gota’s War on June 11 from 10pm.

The book is an introspective collection of events that led to the crushing of LTTE terrorism in Sri Lanka documented by journalist C A Chandraprema at Waters Edge on May 14.

Bran Nue Dae in Kandy

The Australian High Commission will present the award-winning Australian film Bran Nue Dae in Kandy.

The fun-filled musical road movie will be shown in Kandy on June 12 at 6.30pm at the Arts Faculty Cinema Hall of the Peradeniya University.

Australian High Commissioner Robyn Mudie said Sri Lanka will have an opportunity to experience the best of Australian cinema with Bran Nue Dae.

The film showcases Australia’s indigenous culture and the beauty of Australia’s landscape.

The film, which stars multi-award winning Australian actor Geoffrey Rush, is a story about a young Australian Aboriginal boy’s journey home to trace his roots.

Entrance is free of charge.


Themiyuru Dehena in Kandy

Themiyuru Dehena, a novel musical evening for hill country music lovers, organised by the Old Rajans Scout Association to raise funds for Lakeview Park International Scout Centre of the first Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group, Dharmaraja College, Kandy will be held tomorrow at 6.30pm at the Dharmaraja Auditorium, Kandy.


Productivity promotion in Badulla

The Sri Lanka Productivity Secretariat will conduct a number of productivity promotion programmes in Badulla district from June 11 to 15. The Productivity Secretariat has planned this series of programme on a concept of Productivity Promotion Minister Lakshman Seneviratne.

These programmes are to be held for government servants in the Badulla district. The first programme will be held in Uva Paranagama on June 11. The others will be held on June 12, 13, 14 and 15 from 9am to 5pm in Welimada, Bandarawela, Haputale and Haldummulla under the patronage of Minister Seneviratne.


Waag Prathiba

Waag Prathiba, the all-island debating tournament final, will be held on June 11 at the Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Mandiraya, sponsored by the Isiwara debating team and ‘97 Isipatana Old Boys Union.
