Some UNPers still boot-licking LTTE rump - Keheliya

The residues of LTTE terrorists in the UNP have not stopped
boot-licking the LTTE rump after the outfit was completely wiped out
from the country, Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya
Rambukwella said yesterday.

He said UNP Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella should demand a debate
from the British Parliament over the cancellation of the addresses by
President Mahinda Rajapaksa and several Heads of State at the
Commonwealth Business Forum.
Rambukwella said President Rajapaksa was an invitee of the British
government and Kiriella who happened to be the country’s deputy foreign
minister at one time, should have more knowledge on protocol which
affected the cancellation of such an event.
The minister was commenting on Kiriella’s conduct in Parliament on
Thursday by attempting to move a motion calling for a debate over the
cancellation of the President’s address at the Commonwealth Business
Forum.
He was of the view that the British government should assess the
situation as LTTE sympathisers had launched protests displaying LTTE
flags with the Tiger emblem, despite it being a proscribed organisation
in the UK.
Rambukwella questioned the British authorities' inability to control
few hundreds of people belonging to the proscribed organisation in the
UK.
"I think Kiriella was not aware of the actual situation that led to
the cancellation of the event. It is the UNP that started boot licking
LTTE terrorists and they have not given it up even after the LTTE was
eradicated in the country," he said. |
