Market 'Green'
Market ended in green territory yesterday where positive returns were
recorded in both benchmark indices. ASI gained 20.23 index points
(0.43%) to close at 4,757.98 while sensitive MPI closed at 4,223.35, up
25.09 index points (0.60%).
Market turnover was Rs.499.5 million.
John Keells Holdings recorded the top turnover of Rs.137.4mn followed
by Vallibel One (Rs.55.5mn) and DFCC Bank (Rs.49.9mn). Several crossings
were recorded in John Keells Holdings (two crossings of 133,000 shares
at Rs.177.50 and 177.40 per share respectively), Aitken Spence Holdings
(278,000 shares at Rs.109.00 per share) and DFCC Bank (257,290 shares at
Rs.106.20 per share).
Orient Financial Services listed by an introduction today and traded
heavily. The reference price per share of Orient Financial Services is
Rs.14.00. The stock reached the high of Rs.30.00 during the day and
closed at Rs.17.20, up Rs.3.20 (+22.86%).
Meanwhile, Vallibel One, John Keells Holdings and Free Lanka Capital
Holdings were among the mostly traded stocks throughout the day.
Foreign participation was 40.2% of the total market activity. At the
end of the day foreign investors were net sellers with a net outflow of
Rs.20.6mn.
Price appreciations in index heavy stocks such as Nestle Lanka (by
Rs.9.10), John Keells Holdings (by Rs.2.10), Vallibel One (by Rs.1.40)
