President meets Maldivian counterpart in UK
President Mahinda Rajapaksa in London to participate in Queen
Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations met Maldivian President
Mohammed Wahid on Thursday.
President Rajapaksa briefed his Maldivian counterpart about the
government's development initiatives.
The discussion also focused on developments in the field of politics,
economy and tourism in the Maldives. Later in the evening, the President
met the Sri Lankan community domiciled in the UK.
Members of the Sri Lankan community in the UK assured the President
the fullest support to continue the government's programmes.
Thereafter, the Sri Lankan delegation headed by President Rajapaksa
who left for Italy for a two day visit arrived at the Leonardo Da-Vinci
airport. The President and the First Lady will meet the Pope during the
visit. |
