P.M.M.G.B. Peramune, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Central
Range) is a very busy person with so much of police work, but he is one
person who believes that work and play should go hand in hand with the
day-to-day life.

Peramune had his education at Kegalu Vidyalaya from Grade one upto
G.C.E (Advanced Level) and he is an all-round sportsman who represented
the School in Volleyball, Cricket and Wrestling. He had the privilege of
captaining the School Volleyball side and later he played for the
District Volleyball team.
When he joined the Police Dept. as Sub-Inspector in 1980, he
continued his sports for many years in the Inter-Division Police
Competitions. He became Asst. Supdt. of Police in the year 1993 before
working as Officer-in-Charge of Murukkan, Uda Pussellawa, Thalawakelle,
Hatton and Nuwara Eliya Police Stations. At all these Stations he did
not forget to promote sports among the staff. He became a Supdt. of
Police in the year 2000 and Senior Supdt. of Police in the year 2005 and
as A.S.P. he served in Hatton, Kantale and Ratnapura areas and as S.P.
served Kandy as well as Vavuniya.
Peramune was serving at Ampara, Kuliyapitiya and Kandy Police
Stations as S.S.P. and he also served as Director, Medical Services
Division. As S.S.P. he was instrumental in organizing Inter-Division
Police Sports Festival in the Kandy Division, at the end of 2011 which
included Rugby, Volleyball (Men & Women), Cricket (Men & Women) and
Twenty Police Station teams in the Kandy Division participated. He was
promoted to Deputy Inspector General recently and was posted to the
Central Range.
As Deputy Inspector General of Police he is intending to improve
Sports activities in the Central Range giving the necessary facilities
to the Police personnel. |
