Poson musical programme
The special Poson musical programme Anu Buddhabi Wandana by composer
and poet W K Sarath Wimalasiri will be broadcast on June 4 from 8pm to
8.45pm over the Sinhala National service of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting
Corporation.
The programme will cover the history behind Poson udawa and related
Poson celebrations.
Anu-Buddhabi Wandana is produced by Visharada Sidath Somasundera and
presented by Chitra Kumari Pathtapperuma with Sampath Salpitikorala.
Belvoir College Bakthi Gee
The annual Poson Bakthi Gee recital organised by Belvoir College
International will be held at the Jeremias Dias Hall at Visakha
Vidyalaya. Colombo on June 7 from 5pm.
Poson Zone
A Poson Zone including a giant pandal will be held at Talammehera Sri
Sunandarama Purana Viharaya,Pannala from June 4 to 9. Proceeds are in
aid of the Sri Sunandarama Development Fund.
Dansela
A rice and curry dansela organised by Dilshan Fashion Group of
Companies , Mabole, chairman and managing director Karunadasa
Kodituwakka will be held at Dilshan Fashion premises, Makola on June 4.
It will be opened by Senior Minister A H M Fowzie.
A mass blood donation campaign will also be held at the same place on
June 3 from 8am to 4pm.
Five cows will also be handed to new owners on this day.
Evening of Brazilian cinema
An open discussion on selected Brazilian films of award winning
filmmakers Hector Babenco – Kiss of the Spider Woman, Walter Salles –
Central Station, The Motorcycle Diaries, Fernando Merellius – City of
the God, Bruno Barreto - Four Days in September and Jose Padiha- Bus
Stop will be held on June 7 at 5.30pm at the ICES auditorium, 2, Kynsey
Terrace, Colombo 8.
The programme will be conducted by film critic, writer and director
Sanjeev Hewavitharane. A scene or two from selected movies will be
screened during the open forum.
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony of the King Sejong Institute at the Colombo
University will be held today at 10am.
Higher Education Minister S B Dissanayake will be the Chief Guest.
Foreign Employment Minister Dilan Perera, Korean ambassador Jongmoon
Choi, EPS Centre of HRD Korea director Kim Kyun Hyun and Colombo
University Faculty of Arts Dean Prof Athula Ranasinghe will participate.
The King Sejong Institute is the Korean equivalent of the Goethe
Institute or Alliance Francaise.
Workshop on Bhagavad Gita
The Bhgawan Sri Sathya Sai Sewa Samith has organised a special
workshop style spiritual discussion at Sai Mandhir, Barnes Place today
and tomorrow from 10am to 4pm.
The workshop will be conducted by Badri Srinivasan, an Indian who
lives in Australia. Badri Srinivasan travels around the world conducting
workshops on Bhagawan Sri Sathya Baba’s teachings and the Bhagvad Gita.
Educational exhibition
A series of workshops and an educational exhibition to provide job
orientation and professional guidance for youths and elders will be held
at the Rahula College, Matara today and tomorrow. |
