First Lady sponsors Carlton Suwa Udana programme

The 14th phase of the Carlton Suwa Udana programme was carried out at the Pagnasagara Temple in Beliatta with the participation of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa yesterday.

The Carlton Suwa Udana Medical Camp was a concept of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and the progarmme was conducted under the direct supervision of the First Lady.

The aim of the programme is to improve the health conditions of low income families in and around the Beliatta region. Eye and dental clinics, blood tests and X-ray services were also available.

The medical camp supported the poor living in difficult areas and this has successfully been continuing, covering every nook and corner of the country.

The health of the poor will be promoted and their support for the development drive of the country will also be encouraged through this progarmme. Spectacles too were donated amongst the needy, while pregnant mothers were given free consultation and treated at Suwanari Medical Clinics. Financial assistance and hospitalization facilities too were given for special cases and treatment provided through the programme.
