National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA) chairman Prof Carlo
Fonseka was awarded the prestigious WHO - WNTD Award for 2012,
yesterday, for his contribution to Sri Lanka's hard-earned position in
the tobacco control map of the world .
Prof Fonseka's programme to make a narcotic free Sri Lanka should be
appreciated, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena participating at the
event said.
Prof Fonseka as NATA chairman renders a great service to the country
to prevent the society from the threat of Non-Communicable Diseases, the
minister said.
Health Ministry Additional Secretary Dr Palitha Maheepala and WHO Sri
Lanka representative Dr Firdhosi Roostom Mehetha also participated. |
