Thisarapura Housing Village provided to public

The Thisarapura Janasevana Housing Village in Maravila in the
Puttalam district will be handed over to the public today under the
patronage of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common
Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa, a ministry spokesman said.
It was constructed under the Janasevana one million housing programme
of the Mahinda Chinthana Future Vision, he said.
"A large number of houses in Muhudukatuwa in the Naththandiya
Divisional Secretariat collapsed due to coastal erosion in 2009.
The housing project was constructed for people who lost their homes
in the incident.
Seven perches land for each family was provided by the Naththandiya
Divisional Secretariat and 29 houses constructed under the project," he
said.
The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) spent 5 million
rupees for the project.
The Disaster Management Ministry provided Rs 100,000 for each family.
The NHDA coordinated and provided technical assistance to build the
houses, the spokesman said.
Social Services Senior Minister Milroy Fernando, State Resource and
Enterprise Development Minister Dayasritha Tissera, Civil Aviation
Minister Priyankara Jayaratne, External Affairs Deputy Minister Neomal
Perera, Parliamentarians Arundika Fernando, Antony Perera and other
guests are expected to participate. |
