ANCL constructed Poyage in Mihinthale opens on June 4

A newly constructed Poyage will be declared open for the Maha Sangha
on June 4 at 4 pm to mark Poson Full Moon Poya Day, along with the
Mihinthale Aloka Pooja organised by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon
Limited.
M/s Abans Ltd will sponsor the Mihinthale Aloka Pooja 2012 for the
seventh consecutive year at a cost of Rs 2.5 million.
Mihintale Raja Maha Viharadhipathi Ven Walawahengunawewe
Dhammarathana Nayake Thera, said construction of the Mihinthale Poyage
is another social hospitality programme of the Lake House.
The Mihinthale Poyage was constructed under the guidance of the
National Heritage Ministry by the Archaeological Department. Sponsor of
the Mihinthale Pohoyage is Maliban Biscuits Manufacturers.
Monks at Mihinthale had brought to the notice of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa about the need for a Poyage and Lake House Chairman and
Managing Director Bandula Padmakumara decided to build a new Poyage at
Mihinthale on the President’s request.
The opening ceremony of the Mihinthale Poyage will held with the
participation of National Heritage Minister Jagath Balasuriya, Mass
Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Acting Economic
Development Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana, Power and Energy
Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, Agrarian Services and Wildlife
Minister SM Chandrasena, Lake House Chairman and Managing Director
Bandula Padmakumara and the Lake House Director Board, Abans General
Manager Dhammika Prasanna, Ceylon Electricity Board Chairman
Wimaladharma Abeywickrama, Maliban Biscuits Manufacturers Chairman AGR
Samarweera. North Central Province Governor Karunarathna Diwlgane,
Archaeological Director General Senerath Dissanayake, Public Trustee
Sarath Senevirathna, Anuradhapura District Secretary Mahinda
Senevirathna, Mihinthale Divitional Secretary Ruwan Ekanayake and
Mihinthale Provincial Council Chairman U B Sirisena,
The certificates awarding ceremony for winners of the essay and
debate competitions conducted by the Budusarana paper will be held on
that day. One thousand Dhamma schoolchildren will observe Sil on that
day in Mihinthale. |
