Market in Red
Colombo stocks ended in red yesterday with benchmark indices
recording losses. ASI closed at 4,832.15, a drop of 32.97 points
(-0.68%) while MPI dropped 12.88 points (-0.30%) to close at 4,315.09.
YTD return on ASI is negative 20.45%.
Daily market turnover lowered to Rs.349 million compared to the
previous day.
John Keells Holdings posted the top turnover of Rs.51.3 million
followed by Colombo Land and Development (Rs.25.6mn) and Ascot Holdings
(Rs.24.3 million). Ascot Holdings recorded a crossing of 105,000 shares
at Rs.203.00 per share. Sanasa Development Bank was listed in the stock
exchange today by an introduction. Reference price for a share of Sanasa
Development Bank is Rs.125.00.
However, the stock did not trade during the day.
Panasian Power, Free Lanka Capital Holdings and PC House were the
mostly traded stocks during the day.
Foreign participation stood at 19% of the total market activity and
at the end of the day foreign investors were the net buyers with a net
