Dhinal dominates
Dhinal Weerasinghe of Colombo International School became the under
12 all island swimming champion at the pentathlon swimming meet held at
the Ananda College Swimming Pool, organized by the Sri Lanka schools
Aquatic Sports Union and Swimming Association recently.
He secured the championship by winning all the five events, securing
lowest average timing taking part in the 50 metre Dolphin in 33.67 secs,
Back stroke in 39.12 secs, Breast stroke in 50.23 secs, Free style in
31.57 secs and 200 metre individual medly event in 2 minutes and 57
secs.
He thanks his Coach, Manoj Abeysinghe, Assistant Coaches. Thilak
Dhammika and Priyadharshana for their dedication and the systematic
coaching and practising schedules through which he was able attain the
above victory.
He also thanks the Principal, M J Chappel, Head of Junior School Mrs
Thamara Perera, Mrs Kurumbuklaptiya and the School Swimming Coach
Conderd Francis for the greatest support for his achievement.
A win for a medal to Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games 2018 is his
future hope with the help of the above individuals and his dedication to
the sport.
