Ven Walawahengunawewe Dhammaratana Nayake Thera

Infrastructure and other facilities at the Mihintale sacred area have been developed at a cost of Rs 35 million under the Deyata Kirula Development programme to cater to over two million devotees expected to visit Mihintale during the Poson season this year, said Mihintale Rajamaha Viharadhipati Ven Walawahengunawewe Dhammaratana Nayake Thera.

He said the 580 acre Mihintale sacred area is a world heritage site which includes a sanctuary. The people in the area are tankful to the President and the government for developing the area with modern amenities and facilities.

The three day Mihintale Aloka Pooja organized by Lake House will be held from June 3 to 5. The Poson illuminations are sponsored by the CEB and Abans.

Ven Dhammaratane Nayake Thera said he would request devotees visiting Mihintale during the Poson festival to act with a sense of discipline and rectitude giving pride of place to Prathipatti Pooja.
