Mihintale sacred area developed

Infrastructure and other facilities at the Mihintale sacred area have
been developed at a cost of Rs 35 million under the Deyata Kirula
Development programme to cater to over two million devotees expected to
visit Mihintale during the Poson season this year, said Mihintale
Rajamaha Viharadhipati Ven Walawahengunawewe Dhammaratana Nayake Thera.
He said the 580 acre Mihintale sacred area is a world heritage site
which includes a sanctuary. The people in the area are tankful to the
President and the government for developing the area with modern
amenities and facilities.
The three day Mihintale Aloka Pooja organized by Lake House will be
held from June 3 to 5. The Poson illuminations are sponsored by the CEB
and Abans.
Ven Dhammaratane Nayake Thera said he would request devotees visiting
Mihintale during the Poson festival to act with a sense of discipline
and rectitude giving pride of place to Prathipatti Pooja.
