Kotte becoming administrative capital

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will open the second stage of administrative building at Sethsiripaya, constructed as part of the government's programme to turn Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte into the country's administrative capital.

The opening of the building complex is a milestone in the government's programme to turn the country into Asia's Miracle by developing Colombo city as the country's commercial hub and turning Sri Jayawardenapura into its administrative capital.

The government spent Rs. 3.5 billion for the 14 storied administrative complex which has 368,083,30 square feet space.

The building complex has been constructed in conformity with international standards. It is equipped with modern facilities such as an audio visual auditorium, surveillance camera system within and outside the building complex, easy accessibility for the differently abled and vehicle park.

The complex was designed by the Urban Development Authority while the Central Engineering consultancy bureau of Sri Lanka provided engineering expertise.
