Police yesterday identified the charred body in a car at Kirullapone
as that of Wasim Thajudeen, a former S Thomas' College rugby deputy
skipper, Havelock's SC skipper (2009) and national player.
Thajudeen had been driving to the airport when the vehicle crashed
into a wall killing him on the spot, sources said.
He represented S Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia from 2001 to 2003. He
then turned out for Havelock's SC during the 2005 season where he played
in the position of wing three quarter.
Thajudeen led Park Club in 2009 and made his debut for the Sri Lanka
team in 2008 at the international Hong Kong Rugby Sevens.
He was voted the Most Popular Ruggerite of the Year at the Caltex
