CEM ends in alternate directions

The Colombo Equity Market ended the day on alternate directions yesterday despite the momentum regained on Wednesday.

Furthermore, the market witnessed thin trading throughout the trading session.

ASI increased by 7.85 points (+0.15%) to end at 5,221.53 and MPI declined by 3.51 points (-0.97%) to close at 4,679.92.Market turnover posted at Rs.168.4 million.Blue Nonvoting (Rs.11.8 million) Plc emerged as the top contributor to the daily turnover.

In addition PC Pharma Plc (Rs.11 million) and Amana Takaful Plc (Rs.9.1 million) contributed significantly to the daily turnover.

Counters such as Blue Nonvoting, HVA Foods Plc and Environmental Resources Plc demonstrated active trading.

Taprobane Holdings Plc which commenced trading yesterday witnessed a surge in price to Rs.10 in early morning and closed at Rs.6.90 (+Rs.0.90).

Foreign participation stood at 9.07% of the total market activity and at the end of the day foreign investors were the net buyers with a net foreign inflow of Rs.3.9 million.
