Solid SC in runaway 15-1 win

Solid Sports Club , Anuradhapura entered the second round of Holcim FA Cup by crushing Eagle SC by 15-1 in another exciting first round match played at the Prison ground last Saturday.

M. H. M. Haleem (7 goals) and T. D. Wijetunge (5 goals) together scored a dozen goals while M. S. Najumdeen (2) and M. G. S. Prasad ( 1 ) made it a tally of 15 goals.

Earlier Great Star SC, Beruwela defeated Thihariya Youth SC of Gampaha by 8 - 3 at the Kelaniya Football Complex on Friday.

Kalutara Park SC also had no difficulty in overcoming Light House SC , at Zahira Ground- Aluthgama. Young Birds SC also netted six goals against Rebels SC where the latter managed to score only 3 goals. The game ended in Young Birds favour.

The second round matches will kick off in the last week of May.

The tournament is getting harder for inexperienced teams while some of the newcomers to the tournament have shown some dramatic football skills so far.
