‘SLFP has interests of masses at heart’

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) is a people’s party which has the interests of the masses at heart, said Parliamentarian Shehan Semasinghe.

He was addressing the public at a Gamdora Abhiyasa Cultural Festival at Ipalogama on a concept of Provincial Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister H B Semasinghe on Saturday.

MP Shehan said the North Central Province had been the cradle of civilization. ‘The NCP bordered the terrorist infested areas during the conflict and people had to spend many sleepless nights in fear. President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the SLFP led UPFA government liberated the country from the terrorist menace and rendered a colossal service to usher in peace and development.

The SLFP undertook a party re-organization programme in the Anuradhapura district to rekindle people’s hearts and remind them about the victories attained in the recent past which have been threatened by various challenges posed by insidious forces.

MP Shehan said with the country charting a new course of peace and development after 2005, anti-government forces have doubled attempts to undermine the victories achieved.

It is the duty of the people to rally round the SLFP and form a strong front to protect it from all threats posed by detractors.
