The 18th round of the distribution of
interest-free housing loans among families of disabled and
departed War Heroes and Police personnel organized by the
Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence was held at the
Ministry premises under the patronage of Seva Vanitha Unit
chairperson Ayoma Rajapaksa yesterday. Here, Ayoma Rajapaksa
in conversation with Lance Corporal Chamila Piyaratna after
presenting the relevant cheque to him. Defence Ministry
Additional Secretary Mrs R M I Ratnayake is also in the
picture. Families of 50 disabled and departed WarHeroes
received housing loans at this ceremony.

The Korea International Cooperation
Agency (KOICA) and the Association of KOICA Fellows in Sri
Lanka (AKOFE) provided drinking water filters for the needy
in Galnewa, Anuradhapura district in the presence of the
Divisional Secretary, the Medical Officer of the area, the
Principal of the Negama Siri Vidyalaya, KOICA Deputy
Resident Representative Choi, Young Mee and President of
AKOFE Buddhi Passeperuma and Committee Members. Forty five
families, schools and kindergartens benefited. |

The Southern Provincial Ranaviru
Commemoration ceremony was held on May 15 under the
patronage of Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasuriya at
the War Memorial in Galle. Southern Provincial Chief
Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva, Galle Mayor Metsiri de
Silva, Commander in Chief of Army Headquarters Brigadier A.S.
Ariyasinha, Southern Province Naval Deputy Commander
U.D.Sumanasekara, Commander of Koggala Air Force unit M.H.C.
Rupasinha and Southern Province DIG Hector Dharmasiri were
special invitees at the occasion. Members of the Ranaviru
families, the public and state officials participated. In
the picture, Southern Province Governor pays tribute to the
